Synopsis

À Aubervilliers, au club Boxing Beats, de jeunes femmes s’entraînent en boxe anglaise. Ailleurs, elles se forment en boxe française, en boxe thaï, en aéroboxe ou en dynamic boxe. Qu’elles évoluent en pro, amateurs ou loisirs, ces femmes s’investissent dans un sport réputé violent, donc viril, et qui ne leur est ouvert que depuis 1990. Au moment où les boxeuses sont tendues vers la préparation des Jeux Olympiques de 2012, Anne Guguen va chercher ce qui motive ces jeunes femmes à s’investir dans un sport traditionnellement considéré comme antithétique de la féminité.

In Aubervilliers, at the Boxing Beats club, some young women practice English boxing. Elsewhere, they train in French boxing, Thai boxing, aerobox or dynamic boxing. That they chose to be a professional or amateur player or do it just for fun, these women invest in a sport renowned violent therefore powerful, and that has only been open to them since 1990. While these girls are nervy training for the 2012 Olympic women’s championship boxing program, Anne Guguen investigates on what motivates them to engage in a sport traditionally considered antithetical to the traditional standard of femininity.
