Synopsis

Dans une école pour malvoyants à Jakarta, les élèves sont comme tous les adolescents : ils suivent les cours, participent à des activités artistiques et tombent amoureux. Maya rêve de devenir actrice. Diana, une petite fille malvoyante, voit sa vie bouleversée après avoir rencontré Andhika, un garçon qui vient d’arriver à l’Institut. Fitri, née aveugle, essaye d’attirer l’attention d’un mystérieux docteur… Mouly Surya emploie élégamment le langage du cinéma pour évoquer l’expérience sensorielle de ses protagonistes à travers des travellings langoureux et des mouvements très chorégraphiés. Une comédie inattendue.

At a high school for the visually impaired in Jakarta, the students are like any other teenagers: they attend classes, pursue artistic endeavors, and fall in love. Maya dreams of becoming an actress and suffers at her boyfriend’s nagging. Diana, a short-sighted girl, sees her life changed forever after meeting Andhika, a boy who has just enrolled at the Institute. Fitri, born blind, tries to win a mysterious doctor’s attention through her letters. Mouly Surya elegantly employs the language of cinema to evoke the sensory experience of her protagonists through languid tracking shots down corridors, and highly choreographed movement.
