Synopsis

Hiver 1944. Une mère et son fils de huit ans traversent la Russie en train pour rejoindre le reste de la famille. Leur voyage est interrompu par la mort soudaine de la jeune mère. L’enfant se retrouve seul dans une ville inconnue et doit déployer toute son ingéniosité pour tenter de poursuivre son voyage. Porté par un noir et blanc remarquable, ce récit simple et authentique happe instantanément le regard et nous plonge, à travers les yeux de cet enfant, au coeur d’un pays enneigé et meurtri. Un impressionnant récit d’apprentissage aux images d’une beauté formelle époustouflante.

Winter 1944. A mother and her eight year old son travel across Russia by train to reunite with the rest of the family. Their journey is interrupted by the sudden death of the young mother. The child finds himself alone in an unknown city and must use all his ingenuity in order to continue his journey. With a remarkable use of black and white, this simple and authentic story instantly catches the eye. Through the child’s perspective, it makes us plunge to the heart of a snowy and bruised country. An impressive story about learning with images of stunning formal beauty.
